Life in La La Land
This weekend while out in the Valley the sky slowly filled with smoke, and the sun ended up with are hue. All because of the Sand Fires that are still raging close by.

Went to a promotional event for Final Fantasy XV at the Shrine Auditorium here in LA. Received a free promotional calendar, some on-stage interviews (with Lena Headey and Aaron Paul), a performance by Florence and the Machine, and more info on the game itself. Fun and free!

At it seems LA is not really able to cope with a lot of rain…
Merry Christmas everyone. We spent Christmas eve (dinner)at a friends place. And we went to see a night-time parade.

Next day we had a small Christmas dinner for ourselves and stayed at home. Same for Boxing day.

We went on a small road trip about a month ago. The San Bernardino National Forest/Big Bear. There was some work related photography involved, but I took some of my own photos. It was way too warm and the California drought really has an impact here, but it’s still a sight. You can easily do this one when you’re on holiday here in LA.
Two weeks ago, 15th of August, there was an event called “Clear the Shelters” in several cities here in the US. This one-day event tried to find new homes for many shelter animals with a special discounted adoption fee in all the participation shelters. A few days before the event I jokingly mentioned to my husband we should go and have a look at some of the shelters that day. And on Saturday he was ready to go. We drove all over the place, from Santa Monica to Inglewood, but finally in Van Nuys we lingered and started talking to the staff. It was almost 6pm and the shelter was closing and the woman walking us around showed this poor timid but very sweet looking dog, a 4 year old Chihuahua (mix?) called Ollie.
Apparently he was already adopted by an elderly woman that morning. When she walked out of the shelter she fell over on the car park and blamed him. She also broke her wrist. So he was put back in his cage
At first sight he seemed very timid but friendly, we sat with him, and walked around with him. We decided to take him in. At the registration desk he did throw up of all over the place, must have been the excitement.
Back home we quickly found out he was perfectly trained, he listened to commands, doesn’t over eat, lets you know when he needs to go. He loves sitting with us, follows us around, and he does well with our cats. But after a day or two he came down with kennel cough. We ended up at the vets and he’s still on the antibiotics but almost recovered. He’s a very happy addition to our family. And I still can’t believe someone gave up this sweet little thing.
We went to the Monty Python musical “Spamalot last Sunday, review here and here. It was the first time I went to Hollywood Bowl, and I knew this, pretty famous, open air venue comes with a twist. On the website of the Hollywood Bowl they actually posted a whole guide for people who have never been.
As parking is not recommended over there, we packed a cooler bag with wine, sushi, salad, and other snacks, and a bag with two cushions to sit on and decided to take a a half an hour walk over there. We arrived about an hour early and after we took a seat had our dinner there before the show started.
Absolutely loved the show, the song, the jokes. And just that bit more fun if you’ve Monty Python And The Holy Grail a few times. I really didn’t take any photos, completely forgot while watching, it’s that good. But here are the before and after shots. When we had our dinner, and when the cast came on the stage at the end. Definitely keeping an eye on the schedule of the Hollywood Bowl to see what else is coming.
And we got our tickets on https://www.goldstar.com You can get cheaper tickets there, bookmark that site! Also got the Howard Jones tickets there.
